In-Depth Review

As a guy in his mid-30s who’s been a bit out of the test prep scene, picking up All the GMAT by Manhattan Prep felt like jumping back into the deep end. Having those rusty GMAT skills pop up again in preparation for graduate school was daunting, to say the least! But I was pleasantly surprised by this guide and the overall experience it provided from cover to cover.

First off, my initial impression was pretty good. The book feels substantial, with over 750 pages packed with solid information, practice questions, and test-taking strategies. I was impressed with how it addressed the new GMAT format, which is something I had been worried about. The layout makes it easy to dive right into studying, and it doesn’t overwhelm you with dense text — something I very much appreciated after working a 9-to-5 job all day.

When it comes to build quality and design, the physical layout of All the GMAT stands out. The pages aren’t flimsy, which is refreshing; they feel durable enough to withstand constant flipping and marking as I went through it. The visuals—charts, graphs, and highlighted text—help break up the content nicely, making studying less of a chore. It might seem simple, but a well-organized design keeps you engaged and prevents fatigue.

Now, diving into performance and daily use, this guide has a lot of strength. The strategies presented are practical and straightforward, which I found particularly useful. Each section progressively built upon the last, covering crucial topics like quantitative reasoning, verbal skills, and even integrated reasoning. Overall, it felt easy to follow and adapt into my daily study routine.

The dynamic question set builder is a game-changer. It allowed me to tailor my practice sessions based on areas I struggled with, allowing me to focus my efforts effectively. Plus, the online starter kit was invaluable; having access to additional resources kept me motivated and helped me understand the nuances of the GMAT. It tracks your progress too, which gives you that little extra push to stay on track.

In terms of who this book is best for, I’d say it’s an excellent fit for busy professionals or anyone who needs a structured approach to prep. Whether you’re a seasoned test taker or someone who’s never taken the GMAT before, this resource has something for everyone. If you have a packed schedule like I do, the flexibility of this guide and its online materials is just what you need.

To wrap things up, there are definitely pros and cons. On the plus side, the clear explanations and helpful strategies make complex topics more digestible. The hands-on practice is beneficial, and it allows you to pretest your knowledge effectively. However, it does have its downsides. The volume of information can be overwhelming, especially if you try to tackle too much at once. Also, the price point might be a bit high for some folks, especially when budget is a tight consideration.

Overall, I’d say my experience with All the GMAT was quite positive. It managed to strike that balance between being informative and approachable. If you’re preparing for the GMAT and need a reliable guide, this might just be the solution you’ve been looking for. I feel much more prepared and confident going into exam day than when I started, which, in the end, is what really matters.

    So pleased with this purchase!
Great buy at a great price, and fast shipping, too, despite having ordered it during a time when everything is delayed. I will update this review when I take the GMAT as I can’t speak for how good the material is as of now.Update 03/30: I’ve had the weekend to go through the material. It was a pleasant surprise that you also get access to ATLAS, Manhattan Prep’s online portal. With that, you also get 6 free CATs, which to buy on its own, would’ve cost me $50. I took my second CAT yesterday and thought that was extremely helpful in knowing what my strengths/weaknesses are. Here are the other things I love about ATLAS: 9-week study planner, OG Navigator (great if you have the GMAT Official Guide), Basic Math Diagnostic, and finally, there are a TON of helpful content and videos that will encourage you!

Comprehensive, well-organized, and effective prep course
While “All the GMAT” isn’t the cheapest prep course out there, I do believe it offers excellent value for money.

  3. Amazon Customer

The books are great, but I didn’t receive any online content
As I had already read the GMAT Foundations series by Manhattan Prep (and they were good), I decided to buy this series as well. This is great! It’s been really helpful so far, but I have a question/complaint:I didn’t receive any code/e-mail or anything to unlock the online content. How does that work?

  6. Sean Tan

    Pricey, but very worth it
They clearly put alot of effort into this and it’s easily the most consise series textbooks with the most easy to understand explanations I have ever used. Admittedly, it’s pricey, but you definitely do get what you pay for here. Well worth it if you’re serious

This set of books contains everything needed to do well on the GMAT and boost your score!I primarily used this set along with online practice tests and found it more than sufficient to boost my GMAT score.

Highly recommended for content and practice tests
This was recommended by a friend who scored mighty well on his GMAT. I found the content really useful and the practice tests at par with the GMAC practice test. Great bang for buck!

  9. Amazon Customer

The content in the books is of high quality. The online tool for tracking progress is good. Overall worth the buy.

As the title says, good books 👍🏼

  11. GMAT Test Taker

Covers needed content, but more importantly, teaches useful problem solving strategies! Originally started with Magoosh but I found that Manhattan Prep saved me a lot of time and taught the concepts more efficiently. Scored 750+

I ordered these books. The textbooks that came are fine. I can only access part of the online resources – I cannot access any of the digital copies of the textbooks. I emailed with Manhattan Prep EXTENSIVELY. They said to request a refund through Amazon but that I would not need to send the books back (as the physical textbooks were fine). I go to do that, and Amazon says they are unable to do it. SO after A MONTH of continuous emails, they have both said there is no option to fix this. Do not buy these.

The book itself is just okay. There are a lot of typos (even in some of the proofs and answers!) and explanations that are rather ham-fisted. For its price, I don’t think the book should have been this bad.But what’s even more disturbing is, part of the reason I bought the book for the “free exams” online. Not only have I not been given access to the materials, when I tried contacting their customer service, they were (1) extremely slow in reverting to me, and (2) unable to resolve the issue despite my having to wait 15+ days for it to be resolved.I would recommend people just buy the GMAT official guide and avoid this book/company.
