In-Depth Review

I recently made the decision to buy the Midea MDF18A1AWW built-in dishwasher because my old machine finally gave up after years of faithful service. As a guy in my mid-30s, juggling work and family life, I was excited to simplify my dishwashing routine. I’ve had this dishwasher for a few months now, and here’s how it’s been working out for me.

When the Midea arrived, my first impression was its sleek, modern look. It has a stainless steel finish that makes it look high-end, even in my not-so-fancy kitchen. The installation was pretty straightforward—if you’ve tackled a few home projects, you’ll likely have no issues getting it set up. One thing I appreciated is that it’s relatively quiet. You can easily run it while watching TV without it becoming a distraction.

The build quality of this dishwasher seems solid. The stainless steel tub feels premium, and the exterior doesn’t show fingerprints as easily as one might expect. It’s designed to fit snugly into standard kitchen openings, which was a relief as I was worried it might not fit in the space that my old one had occupied.

When it comes to performance, the Midea has proven to be quite capable. It has six washing programs, including heavy, normal, ECO, delicate, quick, and rinse. I’ve used the heavy cycle for the post-dinner cleanup, and I have to say, it’s impressive. Even the baked-on grime from pots and pans comes out spotless. The heated dry function has also been a game-changer for me; dishes come out dry without having to towel off the leftover moisture, saving me some time.

As for capacity, it comfortably fits eight place settings, which is perfect for my family of four. We don’t always have a truckload of dishes to wash every day, but when we do, this dishwasher handles it without fuss. It doesn’t have the absolute largest interior space, but it’s adequate for our weeknight dinners.

If you’re like me and are tired of handwashing dishes or have an older, inefficient machine, this is definitely worth considering. It’s also a good option if you’ve just moved into a starter home and want a reliable dishwasher that won’t break the bank.

Of course, no product is perfect. While I appreciate the features and performance overall, the control panel has some quirks. It’s touch-sensitive, which can be hit-or-miss. I occasionally have to press it multiple times to activate, which can be annoying when your hands are wet. Additionally, while the machine is generally quiet, for some cycles, I noticed it can be louder than I expected—especially when it’s draining.

In reviewing the pros and cons, I’d say that this dishwasher’s affordability and solid performance are major highlights. On the flip side, the sensitive controls can sometimes frustrate, and the noise level varies by cycle.

In conclusion, I would recommend the Midea MDF18A1AWW dishwasher for anyone seeking a good balance of quality, performance, and price. If you have a small to medium-sized household and want to save time on dish duty, this machine should be on your radar.

    Perfect for a RV
This little dishwasher is amazing. The installation was pretty straight forward. Tightening the inlet elbow was a little tough. I suggest you test it prior to installation to make sure it doesn’t leak. Other than that everything went flawlessly.I installed this in my RV and I had to build an enclosure for it by extending the island counter top. This has been a great addition and I wish I had done it sooner. I hate washing dishes. Lol.The washer works very well. It holds a lot more than I thought it would and the dishes come out very clean. There will be some water spots if you don’t use an additive which is ok with me. It runs very quiet and doesn’t use a lot of water so your tanks don’t fill up too fast.I highly recommend it. I have no regrets on this purchase.

Amazing Dishwasher Five stars wish I could give it ten!!
More than I imagined a dishwasher could be!!! Wow I really cannot express how beautiful and clean the dishes are!!! Our home is a farmhouse so dishes get very dirty and often need sanitation. I would buy this for myself or anyone as a gift with 100 percent confidence in this product. Also a very easy install, and looks 😍beautiful. Way better than any of our other dishwashers, works perfect for a family of 4!! Thank you!!

    Do not buy
The lower rack is too close to the top rack so normal sized dinner plates on the lower rack will obstruct the rotating spray wash handle. They should have moved the upper rack about 3/4 to 1 inch higher up so that plates fit in the bottom without obstructing the rotating spray wash handle. The top rack has AMPLE room above it (4 to 5 inches clearance to top of unit even with a large 16 oz tall cofffee cup in top rack). The rack tines on the lower rack are also angled outwards (towards unit’s interior walls) so plates will lay out towards wall and hit the wall so you can’t fill the tines and still close the dishwasher. This appears to only be sold online and now I know why. If you could actually SEE it you’d know it’s poorly designed.Garbage. After 4 months it’s completely broken. The panel is on, but a cycle won’t run unless I just push buttons rapidly in succession and then only eco or delicate cycle turns on. So I either need to spend $140 service fee for a repair company, plus whatever parts are needed, or buy a new dishwasher. Heated dry never worked well. Totally saturated at end of cycle.Nearly 2.5 hours to run a cycle.

    Great purchase for the bar
This dishwasher was purchased over a year ago. We put it in the newly refurbished bar. Installation was smooth with no problems. This dishwasher has saved us many trips carring glasses and plates upstairs in the evenings following groupings of family and friends. We always use a good detergent pod and everthing comes out very clean. If there is any draw back, it is that occasionally a plastic piece comes out damp and must be dried … but that is true with any dishwasher. This was a wonderful convenience purchase.

    Quiet and cleans very well.
I had a great overall experience with this Midea dishwasher; it’s perfect for my apartment. It has 8 place settings, easily accommodating my daily dishes. While the capacity isn’t particularly large, the layout is reasonable, and the flexible racks can accommodate various dish sizes, easily cleaning the dishes for a family of three to four in one go. The machine offers 6 washing programs, allowing you to choose based on the level of soiling. The light wash is quick and saves water and energy, while the heavy-duty mode provides strong cleaning power. The stainless steel interior not only enhances the dishwasher’s durability but also effectively prevents the growth of dirt and grime, making it durable, hygienic, and easy to clean, ensuring peace of mind even after prolonged use. The heated drying function is a bonus; dishes come out dry and spotless, reducing the need for secondary wiping and making them more convenient to use. The noise level during operation is well-controlled and doesn’t disrupt daily life. It’s worth noting that its height is approximately 32.4 inches, slightly lower than some standard cabinet heights (usually 85 cm), so a filler panel may be needed during installation. The water inlet connection needs to be tightened securely during installation to prevent leaks; testing before installation is recommended.Overall, this dishwasher has a simple appearance, stable performance, and excellent cleaning results. It saves both time and effort, making it ideal for families or RV users who value an efficient and clean kitchen experience.

    Compact but very effective.

    Good helper
This Midea built-in dishwasher is truly amazing! The 8-place setting capacity is perfect for our small family’s daily meals, and the 6 program options are very practical, especially the quick wash and intensive wash. The stainless steel inner tank has a great feel, and the heating and drying effect is exceptionally thorough; the dishes come out dry and warm. It runs much quieter than expected, and its energy and water efficiency is reassuring. Since installation, the kitchen is much tidier, finally freeing up my hands, and washing dishes has become an easy task—it’s definitely an essential appliance for improving happiness, and I highly recommend it!

    Sooo quiet
Love this dishwasher! I wanted to add one to my rental unit, but there wasn’t enough space for a standard 24” model. My options were a countertop unit, a portable one, or this—and I’m so glad I chose this route.I built a small cabinet around it (still needs to be painted—clearly 😅), and it fits perfectly. It’s insanely quiet—so quiet that I actually had to double-check that it was running.Installation was straightforward, but be sure to pick up a dishwasher installation kit, since it doesn’t come with the hookups. You’ll also need a wire clamp connector for the electrical wiring, which isn’t included either. I learned that the hard way after making two separate trips to Lowe’s.
