In-Depth Review
As a guy in my mid-30s who’s spent a fair amount of time gaming and doing some creative work, I knew it was time to upgrade my laptop, especially with the upcoming gaming releases. After researching for weeks, I decided on the GIGABYTE AORUS 17X. Let me share my honest impressions.
**First Impressions**
Right out of the box, I was struck by the sleek design. The black finish gives it a professional look—perfect for a work environment or gaming setup. The 17.3-inch screen is large and eye-catching, with ultra-thin bezels that make it feel modern. As soon as I powered it up, the vibrant colors popped, and I knew I made a good choice.
**Build Quality & Design**
The AORUS 17X feels sturdy yet surprisingly lightweight for a gaming laptop of this size. The chassis has a premium feel, and the keyboard is well-spaced, giving a comfortable typing experience. The RGB lighting on the keyboard is customizable, adding to the visual appeal, and I loved showing it off to friends. One slight downside? The laptop tends to attract fingerprints, but that’s a minor trade-off for the aesthetics.
**Performance & Daily Use**
This laptop truly shines when it comes to performance. With the Intel Core i9-13980HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, games run smoothly on high settings. I tested a few titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Call of Duty, and they looked stunning. There’s no noticeable lag, and the cooling system does a great job of keeping the temperatures down during intense gaming sessions.
I also run design software for freelance projects, and the 16GB DDR5 RAM combined with the 1TB SSD has made multitasking a breeze. File transfers are quick, and loading times have significantly improved compared to my old laptop. Another perk is the battery life—while gaming can drain it quickly, regular use gives me four to five hours, which is reasonable for a gaming laptop.
**Who This Is Best For**
The GIGABYTE AORUS 17X is perfect for gamers who demand high performance without compromising on portability. It also suits creative professionals who need powerful hardware for graphic design or video editing. If you fall in either category, I think you’d appreciate what this laptop has to offer.
**Pros and Cons**
Like anything, it has its ups and downs. As I mentioned, the design is sleek and professional, which I love. The performance is top-notch; I’ve truly enjoyed my gaming experience and productivity boost in creative tasks. But, while the RGB keyboard is visually stunning, it can be a bit impractical in bright environments. Plus, the price point is on the higher side, so it may not fit everyone’s budget.
**Final Verdict**
Overall, the GIGABYTE AORUS 17X has met my expectations and then some. The blend of power, design, and usability makes it worth the investment for both gaming and professional work. If you’re looking for a robust laptop and are willing to spend a bit more for quality, I highly recommend giving this one a shot.

Great laptop
I’ve had this product for over a year now. I added another stick of 16 GB RAM as 16 GB on its own was not enough for the games I was running. No issues at all whatsoever, even nowadays I still get compliments on it despite being an older system. Runs anything I throw at it, even Star Citizen. My friends were dumbfounded how I could play such a demanding game on a laptop. Great laptop overall

High quality product, less bios setting options
Well metal chassis packed with strong gpu. Need more useful features for power saving mode either performance mode, especially on immutable giggabyte control panel UI

AMAZING!! except for no DP 🙁
Great PC only thing I would change is to add a DisplayPort 1.4. only get an HDMI 2.1, but can’t complain too much, amazing PC, especially for a laptop!!

No recomiendo
Vino con problemas, la pantalla se apaga cuando se le conecta la batería. Además apareció una raya en la pantalla y a momentos es muy lenta

AORUS 17X so far so good
This was an O0pen Box/Refurb unit; the tamper seal on the box was peeled away. The listing does not specify Open Box/Refurb. Also does not specify New, so I suppose that’s on me?It crashed once (bluescreen) during initial setup, but not yet afterwards. It has performed normal laptop usage such as internet browsing and word processing without any problems. More news on this once I get it running actual games and CAD. Minus one star for the setup crash and non-information on its used condition.

Desktop replacement laptop with an incredibly short charger
Outstanding laptop that definitely does replace many desktops even with using an external monitor. My only gripe about this laptop is the incredibly short charging cable. I would have thought that a laptop nearing 3000$ would have at least a decent length charging cable given that it is needed to be plugged in with a 4090 GPU. Other than that, great laptop.

This is for the Amazon Refurbished AORUS 17X
This is for the Amazon refurbished AORUS 17X. Laptop arrived well packed with only the laptop and power supply. Laptop showed no signs of wear or of being used except the tamper stickers on 2 of the screws showed that they had been removed. Laptop booted into Windows 10 Pro, when it should have been Windows 11 Pro. Found and removed 2 viruses that came with the unit. Worm:Win32/Autorun!pz, and Win32.Comet.A. I was able to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro via Microsoft’s site.Speakers are a little weak. Screen is awsome! Keyboard has a nice feel. LED backlighting is nice. Haven’t tried all the different options. Only keyboard issue I have is that I can’t see the SHIFT+ characters on any of the keys. Touchpad feels nice.Overall I really like the laptop. Refurb price was good. Amazon refurb process needs to be looked into.
