In-Depth Review

As a typical fella in my mid-30s, I’ve had my fair share of electronics, but this LG OLED TV has taken my viewing experience to a whole new level. I had been eyeing OLED technology for a while, and finally took the plunge with the LG 55-Inch Class OLED evo AI 4K C5 Series Smart TV. I couldn’t resist the allure of its specs, and after having it for a couple of weeks, I wish I’d made the switch sooner.

When the TV arrived, I was eager to set it up. First impressions? It’s sleek and minimalist, and I appreciated how lightweight the packaging was. I’d heard people rave about how easy these things were to install and let me tell you, it was true. I had it mounted on the wall in less than an hour. The 55-inch screen size feels just right for my living room without overpowering it, and the bezels are incredibly thin, giving it a modern touch.

Once set up, I started digging into all that it had to offer. The OLED display is a sight to behold. Colors pop, blacks are deep, and the contrast is something I’ve never experienced before. Watching movies in 4K was an absolute game changer. I tested it with some action flicks, and the motion clarity was stunning. The built-in technologies like Dolby Atmos and HDR10 really elevate the sound and picture quality, and I was surprised at how immersive the experience felt. My friends and family couldn’t stop talking about it when they came over to watch the big game.

Another neat feature is the Filmmaker Mode. I can’t say I’m a film connoisseur, but it truly makes a difference when watching films the way they were meant to be viewed. And if you’re a gamer, let me tell you, this TV supports NVIDIA G Sync and AMD FreeSync which is fantastic. My gaming sessions have never been smoother. I’ve noticed significantly fewer lags and tearing compared to my old TV.

I’ve been using the TV for all sorts of things: streaming shows, gaming, and even catching up on YouTube videos. The AI Super Upscaling is impressive, enhancing non-4K content to near-4K quality. Everyday usage has been a breeze as well. Navigating through apps like Netflix or Hulu is pretty user-friendly, and I love having Alexa built-in for voice assistance—easy to turn the TV on or off without reaching for the remote. Plus, the integration with other smart devices is seamless.

Now, who would this TV be best for? Honestly, if you’re a movie buff, an avid gamer, or anyone who values picture and sound quality, this is for you. The price may be a bit of a splurge for some, but considering what you get, it feels worth it. On the flip side, those on a tighter budget or those who don’t mind sticking with older technology might find it excessive.

Now, let’s touch on some upsides and downsides. The upsides include mind-blowing picture quality, an easy setup process, and the plethora of smart features that make everyday viewing enjoyable. On the downside, I did notice some minor issues with reflected light on the screen; if you’ve got bright windows, you might want to be cautious about where you place it. It can also be a bit of a fingerprint magnet, although a quick wipe-down easily fixes that. Also, remember to check your space—the 55 inches fit great in my living room, but keep your room size in mind when considering.

To sum it all up, my experience with the LG OLED evo AI 4K TV has been nothing short of fantastic. It takes your viewing experience to the next level, whether you’re catching up on your favorite shows or immersing yourself in a new game. With its stunning visuals, impressive audio capabilities, and user-friendly features, I feel like I made the right investment for my home entertainment. If you’re in the market for a new TV, this one’s definitely worth considering.

    Great tv, won’t dissapoint.
Ordered the tv yesterday, came this am, earlier than I thought! Had to assemble the stand to the tv, directions could be a little better, but figured it out. After mounting the stand, the tv really does need 2 people to put on a stand/dresser. Probably weights about 48 pounds and is awkward to move for one person. There is no manual. Plugged it in, set up the wifi and off and running. I followed a few youtube videos how to calibrate the tv. Glad I did, the live pictures are amazing, the colors are so vivid. I am looking forward to streaming a 4k video, but otherwise the detail is fantastic. In all fairness I do own an earlier version of this tv which is also excellent. The speakers are so good, I may return the soundbar I ordered. I keep this tv in the family room and usually I am the only one watching it for sports. I had a few questions on setup, thank goodness for AI to help out.

Great TV for the Price and Excellent Seller Engagement
TV is great. The picture is amazing, and the sound is great. We did have a problem with FedEx shipping, but the seller was great to work with and offered a discount due to Fed Ex delays even though it was not their fault. I love that the remote uses Alexa voice and I can just speak what show I want to watch. The WIFI connectivity was quick and easy. Many thanks to Laurie and Rita Mae!!

    Beautiful picture vivid colors
This is as advertised , beautiful picture , dolby vision, sound is great. Nice and sleek easy to connect , and it’s ready to go..My TV is right by the window. So even with my blinds down in the morning, you can see a glare. Which is pretty common on all OLED, not a game changer for me.The size is perfect for my living room.. As far as gaming goes , I have to wait until my grandson comes over.

A RARE WIN, THE ONLY TV THAT ALLOWS HEADPHONES AND INTERNAL SPEAKERS SIMULTANEOUSLY
If you rely on headphones to hear clear dialog but still want your family to enjoy the TV through speakers, this is absolutely the one to get. After testing modern TV audio architectures, I want to be clear. LG is one of the last major manufacturers preserving critical analog hardware, and that single decision makes all the difference for hearing impaired users. While other brands have moved to digital only outputs that force an either or listening choice, LG has kept the 3.5 MM analog jack. This allows a simultaneous signal flow that is essential for accessibility.THE WORKING SIGNAL PATH, THE SIMULTANEOUS MODEUnlike other TVs that mute the room when you plug in headphones, LG allows a specific output mode.Internal TV Speaker plus Wired Headphones.ENGINEERING LOGICVideo source goes to TV processor.Path A digital goes to internal speakers, keeping room audio active.Path B analog goes to the 3.5 MM jack, feeding RF headphones. This design preserves the analog circuit that newer models delete, keeping the headphone output path that makes assistive listening work effortlessly.WHY THIS MATTERSEngaging external digital outputs often triggers a system interrupt that kills the headphone feed. By using internal speakers for the room and analog output for the user, you preserve two active streams. The family hears the TV normally. The hearing impaired user controls volume independently.Zero latency, no lip sync delay.WHY LG DESERVES REAL PRAISELG made a deliberate engineering choice that most manufacturers abandoned. They kept the analog output because they understood something others forgot, accessibility is not optional.By preserving the 3.5 MM headphone path, LG allows real people with real hearing challenges to stay part of the family viewing experience instead of being forced into isolation.Combine that with LG’s stunning OLED picture quality, deep blacks, perfect contrast, and best in class motion handling, and this becomes the easiest recommendation I can make.If you care about both image quality and audio accessibility, this is absolutely the TV to buy.THE ALTERNATIVE MODEWhen headphones are not needed, simply switch to.Optical Out for soundbar or surround system. This TV is currently the only viable solution for true simultaneous listening.QUICK SETUP GUIDEPlug RF headphone base into the 3.5 MM jack.Go to Settings, Sound, Sound Out.Select Internal TV Speaker plus Wired Headphones.AN OPEN LETTER TO AUDIO MANUFACTURERSSamsung, Sonos, and others that have removed the 3.5 MM analog outputPlease reconsider your actions.Imagine how difficult it is to be in a room with your family, enjoying a film or listening to the news, and you are straining to follow the action while understanding what is being said. For years, the analog output was the bridge that allowed us to use assistive devices without silencing the room for everyone else. By removing it, and by designing HDMI eARC protocols that ruthlessly cut off simultaneous outputs, you have removed the key ingredient that allows hearing impaired people to enjoy this long time family entertainment. You have built amazing displays, but you have quietly broken the family living room for millions of your customers. Innovation should open doors, not close them.

    Good TV – Bad Remote
I really like the television, all in all. It’s got a great image and sound. However, the AI garbage you are shoving down our throats is completely unnecessary and adds to the cost. But worst of all is the mouse-like cursor pointer from the remote. Even after I lowered the sensitivity and increased the size, its too hard to use, and it can’t be permanently disabled. I am perfectly happy clicking on the outer ring to move through menues. Why can’t I disable the pointer? As I get older my hands shake more and using this remote is a pain in the butt. Yes, I can momentarily “turn it off” by clicking the ring, but it takes me to seemingly random positions on the screen, and I have to do it repeatedly through the evening. Please give us a way to turn it off.

Real Review. Real Person. Real Owner.
Incredible television. Such an upgrade from a 15+ year old Sony, which was a great TV.Set Up was a snap. No issues at all. Picture quality is amazing. We are not gamers so we cannot comment on that. Roku was easily recognized. Now just one remote to control it all. SONOS sound bar set up was also a breeze. There is an HDMI port clearly marked for external speakers.WIfe and I are enjoying movie nights, Sunday Football, and all other shows. If you are on the fence with this one, get it. One of Consumer Reports best televisions of 2025.

    Holy 77 inch!
Amazing TV! Amazing value! Only downside is that there is no input button or mute button on the remote. If you are on the fence about this tv, just do it amazing pic & sound is way better than I expected (on the 77 at least)

    I’m In Love!!!
Very happy with the TV. After adjusting the settings to my liking I must say I’m very impressed with the picture quality. In SDR it’s pretty good but in HDR it’s amazing! Watching a movie in HDR feels almost 3D with the details and depth that you get. Daytime watching in a pretty bright room and the TV holds up well but of course shines in a dark room. Of course the TV itself looks great with it’s thin bezels and just thin overall compared to backlit TV it replaced. It’s definitely an expensive choice but if you can afford it you won’t be disappointed.
