Xbox Series S – All Digital Gaming Console – 512GB SSD – Includes Wireless Controller – 120FPS – Robot White
In-Depth Review
I’ve been an avid gamer for quite some time now, and I thought it was high time to upgrade my console setup. After doing my research, I finally decided to pull the trigger on the Xbox Series S. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I’m ready to share my personal experience with it.
**First Impressions:** When I first unboxed the console, I was impressed with how compact it is. It fits easily into my entertainment center without a hassle. The aesthetic of the Robot White color is sleek, and the minimalist design caught my eye immediately. It really has that modern look without being too flashy.
**Build Quality & Design:** The build quality feels solid. It doesn’t feel cheap, which is crucial for a console that’s aimed to last. The surface has a slightly textured feel that adds a premium touch. The air vent on top, which is a signature round cut-out, looks cool and effectively keeps the console from overheating.
**Performance & Daily Use:** Now, let’s talk about the real reason why I bought this console—performance. The 512GB SSD is lightning-fast. Booting up games is quick, and I haven’t experienced any lag even with high-demand titles. In fact, I’ve been playing “Forza Horizon 5” and “Halo Infinite,” and both games rendered beautifully at 120 FPS. It’s been a game-changer, especially during multiplayer sessions. The wireless controller included in the package is another highlight; it’s ergonomic and feels just right in my hands during those long gaming marathons.
**Who This Is Best For:** If you’re someone who enjoys digital gaming and doesn’t need a physical disc drive, the Xbox Series S might just be the ideal choice for you. It’s perfect for casual gamers, families, and anyone looking to enter the next generation of gaming without breaking the bank.
**Pros and Cons:** Now, nothing’s perfect, right? On the plus side, the compact size, impressive performance, and solid controller make it a great value for the price. However, the 512GB storage can fill up pretty quickly, especially if you download a lot of games. I have noticed that managing storage is somewhat of a hassle since I had to delete some old games to make room for new ones. Additionally, while the graphics are great for a budget console, hardcore gamers looking for the absolute best visual experience might want to consider the more expensive Xbox Series X.
**Final Verdict:** All in all, I’m really enjoying my Xbox Series S. It delivers a fantastic gaming experience without the hefty price tag. Yes, there are some drawbacks, particularly regarding storage, but for what it offers, I say it’s worth every penny. If you’re looking for a next-gen console that’s compact, efficient, and easy to use, grab yourself an Xbox Series S. You won’t be disappointed!

Games And More
Nice, personal type of device. Compact, portable, works very well. I appreciate its ease of use and online social gaming aspect. I also like I can download media streaming apps and control them directly from the Xbox. Everything from Netflix to YouTube flows very nicely, and looks great thanks to the hardware used for the system. I use it connected to a monitor along with an old laptop that cannot run games, period. And its a perfect complement for such a set up. As said, it feels personal, as its not used as a living room device or shared. Its MY little Xbox. No gaming PC? No 4K TV or monitor? No problem. The Series S has you covered concerning all else up to 1440p. Its “plug and play” with what you may already have, and plays every single game out now, while being backward compatible. Perfect. If concerned about storage space you may not have to be depending on what you play and the version of Series S you choose. The 512gb model will get you 364gb user available space, and the 1tb version will get you 800gb of user available space. Depending on who you are, neither version may offer enough room. But adding storage is simple, and for many titles can be done inexpensively. For instance I have Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 2, and Metro Exodus on its internal storage. Thats around 200gb worth of games. Those can only run off the internal storage, or one of the somewhat costly “officially licensed” Series S storage expansion cards. But I run Red Dead Redemption 2 and Fallout 76 off an inexpensive external USB 3.0 SSD. Both are over 100gb games each. I also have Dying Light, Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 5, Metro 2033, Metro Last Light, and the original Modern Warfare 2 on the same drive. And they load and play perfectly from it. A drive I had sitting around in a drawer unused from last year. Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and even some games designated “Optimized for Series X/S” like FC 4 & 5 will in fact run off regular USB SSD expansion storage. It all depends to what extent they’ve been “optimized.” And any games such as the aforementioned NOT designated with such a label? Those will all run seamlessly from a standard 3.0 USB drive plugged into the Series S. So as said, depending on who you are and what and how you play your games, storage may be little or no issue at all whichever Series S you choose. As for myself? No complaints at all.

High quality gaming machine
The Xbox Series S has honestly surprised me in the best way. I didn’t expect much from the “smaller” Xbox, but it’s been super solid. It loads games fast, runs smooth, and doesn’t sound like it’s trying to take off into space like older consoles. It’s compact too, so it fits pretty much anywhere without taking over the TV stand.Visually, it looks great on my TV. It’s not 4K like the Series X, but the graphics still look clean, bright, and way better than I expected. For the price, it does way more than it has any right to. Plus, pairing it with Game Pass is basically a cheat code—tons of games to pick from without having to buy everything one by one. Perfect if you don’t want to drop a ton of cash on a full setup.

Great gaming console
Great console. Kids love playing on it. They set it up themselves which is great as I was never a gamer! Just a note my son says the box gets pretty warm after playing for a bit. Just FYI. Ours is by a window so we open it from time to time cool it off!

An excellent entry point into next-gen without breaking the bank
I was lucky enough to try both Microsoft consoles: the Xbox Series X and this Series S. Honestly, the difference between the two isn’t as drastic as people make it seem. The Series S performs exceptionally well—the only noticeable difference is in resolution and visual detail, which you’ll only care about if you’re someone who stares at every pixel.I’m giving it 4 stars mainly due to the limited storage, which fills up fast with larger games. But aside from that, it’s a fantastic console. If you want to experience the new generation without blowing an entire week’s paycheck, this is a solid choice. You still get the same games, updates, and next-gen performance—just in a more compact and affordable package.
