In-Depth Review

As a guy in my mid-30s who’s been working in IT for over a decade, I find myself on this constant quest to stay relevant. So, when I decided to tackle the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate exam (Exam 1Z0-1072), I knew I needed a good resource to help me along the way. I came across the “Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate All-in-One Exam Guide,” and after some back-and-forth, I decided to dive in. Here’s how it went.

My first impression was solid. The cover is bright and professional, which set an upbeat tone even before I opened the book. The layout seemed user-friendly, and the content looked well-organized. I was excited to dive in since I’d heard that this certification could really add punch to my résumé.

The build quality of this guide is pretty decent. It’s a paperback, but the pages are thick enough to withstand some serious serious reading and pencil scribbling. The font size is just right—not too small to strain your eyes during those late-night study sessions. The binding also held up well through various flips and folds, which was a big plus for me since I typically read while multitasking.

In terms of performance, I found that the book does a great job breaking down complex topics into digestible sections. The early chapters provided a solid overview of Oracle Cloud concepts, and as I progressed, I appreciated the quiz-style questions at the end of each chapter. They gave me a chance to self-assess what I had learned, which was immensely helpful. I got to say, some days were tougher than others, and I occasionally struggled with various cloud concepts, but these quizzes helped clarify things for me.

After a few weeks of diligent studying, I felt truly prepared by the time I scheduled my exam. The book touches on all the exam topics, including Architecture, Storage, Networking, and Security, providing a comprehensive overview that aligns with Oracle’s material. I was pleasantly surprised to find a series of practice exams at the end, which gave me a realistic portrayal of what to expect on the actual test day.

Now, who would I recommend this guide to? If you’re like me—a working professional wanting to level up your cloud skills—this book is a solid investment. It’s also great for those new to the Oracle Cloud or IT professionals looking to transition into cloud roles.

That said, I want to be balanced and share some drawbacks. There were a few technical errors scattered throughout the book that could mislead someone less familiar with the content. Additionally, while the quizzes were useful, I sometimes found the explanations following the answers insufficient. I had to do some digging online to clarify what I didn’t quite grasp.

In summary, this guide delivered on its promises, but it’s not without flaws. My favorite parts included the thorough breakdown of topics and the quizzes, while I wasn’t thrilled about the minor inaccuracies. Overall, if you’re dedicated and need a structured way to study for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Associate exam, I’d say this book is definitely worth considering.

Well done and enough to pass the exam.
This book consolidates what you need to know to pass the 1Z0-1072 exam in one nice place.

    Waste of money and time
This book is useless if you want to use this only to pass the exam. The subjects are explained too shallow and unclear. Don’t waste your money! Most importantly, don’t waste your time!

  3. IT guy

Good coverage on the exam + good book about cloud infra in general
I liked the book – if you follow through the exercise in each chapter, you will see immediate benefits in learning OCI as well as getting ready for the exam. One thing though – the exam itself is constantly under revision – and have noticed few things that the book missed in comparison to the exam – for example: Block multi attach, IAM policy for child / parent compartments etc – but overall this is an excellent book for learning cloud.

  4. Robert Lawson

Helpful but could have been better
The conceptual content was good but I would like to have seen more detail. A lot of the book was lab exercises, which while good, are obsolete because OCI is ever-evolving. I would like to have seen more practice exams. The index and glossary were both weak, which was frustrating when you want to use the book as a reference.

  5. Jonathan

Pretty good book. I didn’t give full score because some of the questions and answers in the quizes and practice tests have either poorly worded questions or wrong answers.
